Stone Setting

Setting Fireble Cubic Zirconias

In this tutorial, I’ll show you exactly how to set cubic zirconias into silver clay so they stay secure during firing and come out sparkling ✨

Silver clay (also known as Art Clay or PMC) can be torch or kiln fired into solid fine silver and yes, you can fire certain stones directly in place! I’ll walk you through:

• Why it’s important to cut a proper seat for your stone
• How deep to set it so it doesn’t pop out during firing
• Common mistakes that cause stones to shift, crack, or dull

I’ll also explain why cutting a proper setting hole is so important not just pressing the stone into the surface so your CZ sits securely once the clay shrinks in the kiln.
